Hey everyone! Welcome to the Weddings for Real Podcast.  I’m Megan Gillikin and I’m the owner and lead consultant for A Southern Soiree Wedding and Event Planning. I also do wedding and hospitality business consulting. On this podcast, we talk about the crazy industry that is weddings. There are so many stories I have from my 10+ years in the wedding space, and one of these days I’m going to write a book about it. But that’s for another time.

This podcast is where I get to talk to other wedding vendors about their stories in the wedding industry.  So I’m going to sit down with other planners, florists, DJs, band members, photographers, videographers, and anyone else in the wedding industry. And it won’t be just stories. We’ll talk about trends in the wedding industry, social media, advice that these other vendors have for people trying to get into the wedding space, what’s changed over the years when it comes to weddings, and how they built their businesses.

So join me on this journey as we explore the behind the scenes of the wedding industry: the good, the crazy, and the ugly. From feuding moms to drunk band members to destroyed wedding cakes, not much surprises me anymore. I’ve kicked bridesmaids out of weddings and been hired before there was even an engagement ring which, by the way, never resulted in a wedding.
